Speed News Desk | Updated on: 10 February 2017, 1:49 IST

American coffee company Starbucks will commence selling single-origin, premium coffee from Karnataka in the United States. This step has been taken by the company with the intention to increase coffee production in India, scroll.in reported on 28 June.

India is the world's sixth largest coffee producer and Karnataka alone accounts for more than 70% of the country's total production.

Tata's Nullore Estates' Arabica beans in Coorg will be roasted and sold at Starbucks' Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle later this year for limited period of time.

Starbucks in India started as a joint venture with Tata Global Beverages Limited in 2012. Starbucks now has more than 84 stores across six cities. India is the fastest growing market for the American coffee chain. The Seattle-based company is now expanding in South Africa, China and Colombia, and also is planning its first Italian location next year.
