The Southern Naval Command has ordered an inquiry into the death of Cadet Gudeppa Sooraj, who was found in an unconscious and unresponsive state on the floor of Academic wing of the Academy by a duty sailor instructor earlier on Wednesday.

The 26 year old cadet of first term Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) was immediately evacuated to ICU of the Indian Naval Hospital Navjivani of Kerala's Ezhimala district and administered IV Fluid resuscitation.

Later, he was shifted to the Pariyaram Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) along with a medical specialist and medical assistants.

The cadet developed two episodes of cardiac arrest at the PMCH.

All efforts to revive the cadet by the medical specialist failed and he was declared dead in the wee hours of Thursday.
