Shops, malls, restaurants now allowed to remain open 24/7

Apart from clearing the Seventh Pay Commission's recommendations for over 1 crore government employees and pensioners, the Union Cabinet on 29 June also approved the Model Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of services) Act 2015 that will now allow shops, malls, restaurants with more than 10 employees open 24/7 for 365 days.
The law will also enable women to work during the night in offices with compulsory cab services and other workplace facilities for them.
The Act is Applicable To Non-Hazardous Manufacturing Units Employing Less Than 10 Workers.
One of the main objectives of the Act is to generate employment opportunities. The law will not apply for government offices and the Reserve Bank of India.
