Shocking! 36-year-old Punjab drug inspector shot dead inside her office by chemist whose license she cancelled

In a spine chilling act, a drug inspector was reportedly shot dead in her office in Punjab’s Kharar town on Friday by a chemist whose license she had cancelled a decade ago. According to reports, the accused fired two rounds at her with his licensed revolver and then shot himself. The accused, however, survived and was taken to a hospital in Chandigarh.

The drug officer, identified as Neha Shorie, was posted as the Zonal Licensing Official with the Drug and Food Chemical Laboratory in Mohali’s Kharar, Punjab.


As per reports, the accused, identified as Balwinder Singh, went to the FDA office on his motorbike around 10.30 AM. Singh then entered Dr Neha Shoree’s office and reportedly shot her twice. After shooting her dead he shouted “Happy Holi”.

"The accused went to the woman's office and fired two rounds. Then, he tried to run away. Police reached the spot immediately and took the accused into custody. He is undergoing treatment a hospital in Chandigarh," news agency PTI quoted a police statement. 

Taking note on the matter, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has directed the police to conduct a speedy probe into the officer's murder and to ensure the accused is appropriately punished.
