Rajya Sabha adjourned till Jan 2 as Triple Talaq bill hangs in the bargain of politicians mercy

After a mild debate over the Triple Talaq Bill, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Monday till January 2 and the passage of the bill was stalled by protests over severla issues.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition said in Rajya Sabha that “This is such an important bill which can positively or negatively affect the lives of crores of people can't be passed just like this without going to a select committee.”


Derek O Brien of Trinamool Congress in Rajya Sabha said that “All Opposition parties unanimously have decided that this bill must be sent to the select committee.”

Congress President Rahul Gandhi claimed on Triple Talaq Bill, which was tabled in Rajya Sabha today that “The party has already made our stand clear.”

Prasanna Acharya of the BJD sais on Triple Talaq Bill that “Whatever judgement SC has given, we agree with that. The bill should be passed, but there are certain defects in the bill which should be removed. We want that the Bill should be passed as early as possible, but after corrections.”
