As the Congress party took jibe and accused Union Minister Smriti Irani of “falsifying her educational records”, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has come out in support of the former and has accused Rahul Gandhi of attaining M.Phil without a Masters degree.

Arun Jaitley took swipe at the Congress president and recommended a “public audit” on his educational qualification and that would solve many unsolved questions and puzle.

One day the focus would be on the BJP candidate’s educational qualification, fully forgetting that a public audit of Rahul Gandhi’s academic credentials may leave a lot to be answered. After all, he got an M.Phil without a Masters degree,” said Arun Jaitley.

Earlier, a controversy had erupted in 2009 over the degree of Rahul Gandhi and then to clear the air, University of Cambridge had said that the latter was a student at Trinity College and obtained his M.Phil in Development Studies in 1995.

The Congress has said that it will approach the Election Commission with a complaint that BJP leader Smriti Irani mentioned in her 2014 election affidavit that she was a graduate but in 2019 affidavit, Irani has mentioned that she did not complete Bachelors of Commerce degree from School of Open Learning in Delhi University.

The Signature Campaign Propaganda proved to be terrible for the Congress party as many of academics, economists, artistes, ex-civil servants & even some former soldiers, whose signatures been put, publicly stated that they never consented for putting their signatures,” said Arun Jaitley in a statement.
