The Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has come out in support of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram. On Wednesday, the leader slammed the government and alleged that the senior party leader was being "hunted down" for speaking truth against the government.
"An extremely qualified and respected member of the Rajya Sabha, Chidambaram ji has served our nation with loyalty for decades including as finance minister and home minister. He unhesitatingly speaks truth to power and exposes the failures of this government," Priyanka Gandhi tweeted on Wednesday morning.
but the truth is inconvenient to cowards so he is being shamefully hunted down. We stand by him and will continue to fight for the truth no matter what the consequences are.— Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (@priyankagandhi) August 21, 2019
She also tweeted, "but the truth is inconvenient to cowards so he is being shamefully hunted down. We stand by him and will continue to fight for the truth no matter what the consequences are."
Priyanka Gandhi has made it clear and shown strong support to Chidambaram in INX Media case. This reaction of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra came out after Delhi High Court refused to grant him any kind of protection from the arrest in INX Media Case.
A team of CBI officials went to Chidambaram's Jor Bagh residence on Wednesday morning, but they had to return as he was not there, the official said. The hunt mission of CBI came in effect just before Chidambaram mentioned his special leave petition in Supreme Court.
After Delhi High Court rejected the plea of any protection to Chidambaram, CBI has issued a notice to him on Tuesday, asking him to appear before the investigation officer within two hours. It happened after the CBI team failed to find him at his residence.
