BJP leader Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur who are contesting elections from Bhopal constituency sparked controversy after calling Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse, a 'patriot'. Now after so many reactions, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also has reacted on the statement, and says, 'Hey Ram'.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reacted to it later in the day and used a phrase of Mahatma Gandhi, 'Hey Ram' when he shot dead by Godse in 1948. “Bapu ka hathyara ‘deshbhakth’ (Bapu’s killer is a patriot?)? Hey Ram,” Priyanka Gandi tweeted.

Although, the BJP leaders have taken a back to this statement of Pragya Thakur and claims from that she has made apologize within the party, but Priyanka Gandhi slams ruling party over their silence in the matter. “Distancing yourself from your candidate is not enough. Nationalistic luminaries of the BJP, have the guts to spell out your stand,” she further tweeted.

“Nathuram Godse was a deshbhakt (patriot), is a deshbhakt and will remain a deshbhakt. People calling him a terrorist should instead look within, such people will be given a befitting reply in these elections,” Sadhvi Pragya said at her campaigning.

However, BJP's spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that party strongly condemns this remark of Pragya Thakur and also will ask her to post a public apology for the same. “The BJP does not agree with this statement, we condemn it. Party will ask her for clarification, she should apologise publicly for this statement,” Rao said in a statement.

Meanwhile later, Pragya Thakur made apologizes on the statement and says it is different from party. “Apne sangathan BJP mein nishtha rakhti hun, uski karyakarta hun aur party ki line meri line hai (I have faith in my party... I am a BJP worker and I toe my party’s lines).” Pragya Thakur said.
