Police baton-charge activists protesting Kerala Dalit rape

The Police baton-charged Left Democratic Youth Federation activists outside the Kerala Secretariat today as they were protesting the brutal rape and murder of a Dalit law student.

The Kerala government has decided to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased woman's kin.

Earlier today, Omen Chandi, Kerala Chief Minister also met the woman's family and promised them that his government will take "necessary" steps towards their demand for a government job for her sister.

According to reports, the 29-year-old woman was murdered after being raped inside her home, at Vattolippidi Canal Bund near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district, Kerala.

Her body had at least 30 injuries, including on her private parts. Reportedly, the assault on her stomach was such that the small intestine had spilled out, reports ANI.
