The Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

This is for the third time when Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire in the last 48 hours.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said that the Pakistani troops used 82 mm mortars for violating the ceasefire.

"Our troops effectively retaliated. No casualty or damage has been reported from our side till last reports came in," he added.

An assistant sub-inspector of the Border Security Force was killed in Pakistan ceasefire violation in the same sector of the LoC on 14 September.
