Two soldiers and a civilian have been killed after a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said. Three others have also been injured.

The incident happened in the Tanghar sector of Kupwara. Two houses were also damaged in the occurrence.

The Army stated that they returned fire to the unprovoked firing.

Previously, two army soldiers were killed in separate incident after Pakistan fired across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Baramulla.

India has brought up the matter of targeting civilian during the ceasefire violation, which has an increase after Article 370 was revoked in August.

In July, there were 296 ceasefire violation, 307 in August and 292 in September, PTI reported. September also recorded 61 calibre escalation, implying use of mortar and heavy ammunation.

So far Pakistan has committed more than 2,050 unprovoked ceasefires in which 21 people died, the centre had said last month. Repeated requests have been made to Islamabad to stick to the 2003 ceasefire understanding, a spokesperson had stated.
