The Supreme Court today rejected a petition put in by one of the convicts facing the gallows in Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, Mukesh Singh, seeking to refile curative and mercy plea.

The apex court has ordered dismissed as withdrawn, the plea put forward by Mukesh, seeking action against his former lawyer Vrinda Grover.

"The petition is not mainatainble," Justice Mishra said and dismissed the petition.

In the petition put in through Lawyer ML Sharma, Mukesh Singh claimed that the limitation period to file a curative plea was three years from the date of dismissal of the review petition.

Mukesh Singh’s review plea was rejected by the Supreme Court in July 2018.

Mukesh Singh asked the court to ‘restore’ the rights available to him, and allow him to put in curative and mercy plea till July 2021.

Mukesh Singh is one of the four convicts facing the gallows in Nirbhaya case. The other convicts are Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur.
