New Modi bhajan produced by censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani

Famous for referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his action hero, censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani has produced a 6-minute song titled 'Mera desh hai mahaan, mera desh hai jawaan' dedicated to PM Modi.

The song is expected to release on Independence Day, whichhas been produced by the same team which had composed the famous 'Har har Modi, ghar ghar Modi' during the BJP's campaign for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

What is the song about?

  • The lyricist, Hina Khan, has referred to Mahatma Gandhi and PM Modi's dreams, and urged the youth of India to work towards fulfilling them: "Jo sapna dekha Bapu, Modi ne, usse mil jul kar humein sach kar dikhana hai". The music composer is Ishwar Kumar.

Pahlaj Nihalani on the song

  • "This is a sequel to the first song that we had created as a team, which was to showcase Narendra Modi as a leader. This song is dedicated to the PM. No other PM has ever given such direct benefits to the people through his actions."
  • The song dwells on government schemes like Make in India, Digital India, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat among others. "We would like to reach people and inspire them through this song," said Nihalani.

Criticism

  • Congress leader Manish Tiwari, a former minister of information & broadcasting, said, "If a gentleman is occupying the position of the CBFC chairperson, which is not only a statutory but a quasi-judicial body, he should refrain from wearing his political loyalties on his sleeve."
