The recent diktat by the Noida police has triggered controversy where they had asked the firms to not let their employees offer Namaz in public space.

Although, the police later on cleared the air by claiming that the order was specifically for the Sector-58 park and not the entire Noida. The District Magistrate BN Singh has said that the Namaz which was being offered in the park was not passed by the Noida authority.

Talking to the NDTV, DM B.N. Singh said, “It is a public park, and the land belongs to the Noida Authority,” adding that “They neither took permission for observing namaz in park nor completed any formalities in this regard.”

The IAS officer did not open about the case but further added that “no need for the district administration to go into the details of a conversation between two individuals. Let the formalities be completed. I am not going to react to what 'A' or 'B' is saying.”

The Opposition parties including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, AIMIM chief Owaisi have criticized the step by the administration and said that the BJP government does not have any other agenda, other than to defame a particular religion.

BJP legislator Pankaj Singh, son of Home Minister Rajnath Singh, has said “They were supposed to get permission from the authorities before observing namaz in the park. That's all there is to it.”

BSP supremo Mayawati had said that the decision by the Yogi Adityanath’s administration is “discriminatory and irresponsible” ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
