In the midst of deaths of people due to fire at Mumbai's Kamala Mills, BJP MP Hema Malini has given a controversial statement on the massive tragedy. She said that such kind of accidents are happening due to the growing population in Mumbai.

In the interaction with journalists, Hema Malini said that in such cases, the police and the government are held guilty, but the truth is that there are reasons for such a growing population in Mumbai.

“It's not that the police aren't doing their job. They do a great job. But the population is so high. When Bombay ends, another city should begin. But the city keeps extending,” she said to reporters.

She further said that the growing population in big cities should be controlled. Permission should be granted to open the pub in every city according to the population. If the population of the city is high then they should not be granted permission and they should be sent to another city.

People are expressing displeasure over this statement of Hema Malini. People have described this statement as extremely insensitive. Some social media users wrote that at this time, Hema Malini should talk to herself.
