After a snub from the SP-BSP over Congress’ ‘goodwill gesture’ to leave 7 seats in UP for the 2019 election, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has reminded the alliance of their ‘common goal’ in this poll.

While starting off her electoral campaign from the banks of river Ganga in Prayagraj, Priyanka Gandhi has taken upon the BSP supremo Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for their snub over Congress of ‘spreading confusion’ and the former even declared that they will not ally with the Congress in any state across India for the 2019 polls.

The Gandhi scion, who has been recently appointed as the Congress’ General Secretary in-charge of the UP East, said, “We don't want to disturb anybody, we have no problems with anyone. Our goal is to defeat BJP... that is their goal too.”

The UP Congress chief Raj Babbar, in a press briefing earlier had announced that, their party would leave 7 seats in Uttar Pradesh which would be contested by the big wigs of the SP-BSP-RLD alliance.

Earlier, while announcing the tie-up, Akhilesh and Mayawati had decided that they would not field candidates in Sonia Gandhi’s bastion Rae Bareli and Rahul Gandhi’s home turf Amethi, although they left Congress out of their alliance.

Mayawati, in a series of tweets on Monday slammed the Congress party for trying to enumerate confusion among the voters.

She tweeted, “The Congress should not create confusion by forcibly trying to leave seven seats for the gathbandhan, Congress is free to contest all 80 seats of UP, meaning our alliance is perfectly capable of defeating the BJP on its own.”
