As the pilgrims have started to gather in the holy city of Prayagraj, Union Minister Smriti Irani has taken a dip in the Ganga and posted the pictures online.

In the 2 months festival being held at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, the administration has said that they are expecting around 150 million devotees to visit the place wherein they have said that a million foreign tourists would be coming in to holy event.

In the Sangam today, Union Minister Smriti Irani had taken a dip with people chanting ‘Har Har Gange’ and the Sangam, which is a confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers which meet at Prayagraj.

A retired soldier Rajendra Singh told News 18 that “I don't know where I will stay yet, but you do not often get to meet these saints and sadhus.”

Belief is what brings us here, to bathe in the waters despite the cold,” said Ram Krishna Dwivedi to News 18.

Today morning, Hindu seers and saints headed towards Sangam Ghat for a holy dip in river Ganga on the occasion of first ‘Shahi Snan’ at Kumbh Mela 2019.
