Krunanidhi death: Here’s why fomer Tamil Nadu CM refused to marry his lover; the reason will surprise you

There are a lot of incidents related to Karunanidh’s life that had hit the headlines. One of those stories is that he refused to marry his lover because of religious rituals and customs. That is why he was accused of going tough against religious show off.

As he passed away at the evening of 7 August, stories related to his life once against sprang up in the public discussion.


Whatever the truth is about the accusation leveled against him, but he refused to marry his lover because of resisting on Mangalsutra. It is said that Karunanidhi was not ready to marry as per traditional rituals and customs. It was 1944 when the family of his lover had insisted on getting married as per traditional rituals and customs. But his principals did not allow him to do so. He was opposed to reciting mantra and mangalsutra. That is why his did not marry with his lover.

His lover took this so hard that she never married in her life despite Karunanidhi did not stop her from doing that. But he gave respect to her decision of not marrying to anyone. Even later, he was in contact with his lover. According to his supporters, it was this thought because of which he emerged among public.

If he did not marry his lover, it does not mean that he did not marry with anyone. He got married three times in his life. His first wife was Padmavati who is no more in this world. The second is Dayalu Ammal and the third Rajthi Ammal.
