Kolkata: Woman gang-raped in moving car near Salt Lake

A woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by at least four men in a moving vehicle for hours on 29 May at Salt Lake, Kolkata.

No accused have been arrested yet. However, the police have said that the offenders will be nabbed soon.

The victim told the police that the incident occurred when she had gone to Salt Lake's sector 5 at around 11:30 pm to get something to eat. She said that she had lost a way and asked a man for directions. She alleged that he deliberately gave her the wrong directions and that a few minutes later, a car pulled up in front of her.

She was forcibly dragged inside the car and raped multiple times. According to reports, the person who had given her the directions was also involved in the crime. The victim was quoted as saying that she had seen the man speaking on phone just after asking the directions.

The accused later left the victim near a bus stop. She was spotted by a taxi driver, who took her to the police station.

The victim is currently under treatment.
