Khirki extension raid: Najeeb Jung allows Delhi Police to prosecute Somnath Bharti

A day after he was heavily criticized for his safety of 'beautiful' women comment in Delhi Assembly, Somnath Bharti, AAP MLA from Malviya Nagar has more reasons to worry about.

According to ANI, Lieutenant General Najeeb Jung has allowed the Delhi Police to prosecute Somnath Bharti for his involvement in the Khirki extension raid last year.

In January 2014, Bharti along with his followers had allegedly barged into the residence of a few African nationals living in Khirki extension in south Delhi. Bharti was the Law Minister in the AAP government.

He had justified his action saying he was acting on the complaints of local residents who claimed that the women were involved in drug and prostitution racket.

The Lt. Governor had ordered a probe into the incident. Delhi Police had registered a case in the matter on January 19 against unknown persons.

Delhi Police had registered a case in the matter on January 19 against unknown persons.According to the Hindu, the probe by retired Additional District Judge BL Garg had given a clean chit to the Malviya Nagar Police in the incident while suggesting that it was Bharti and his supporters who interfered in police duty.
