Kupwara Army camp attack highlights: 3 soldiers, 2 terrorists killed

An Army camp in Kupwara's Panjgaon at Chowkibal in Jammu and Kashmir has been attacked early in the morning on 27 April.

The location of the under attack-camp is close to the Line of Control (LoC).

02: 30 pm - Congress Vice President condemns terrorist attack and said, "Repeated terrorist attacks, especially on army camps is extremely worrying. Must be met with strategic and decisive action."

01: 30 pm: We condemn this strongly. We pay our tributes to the jawans. Pakistan is trying to mess the situation as much as possible, but that would not be possible. Our jawans are doing their best and will not let them be successful. Their actions will be answered: deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Nirmal Singh.

12:30 pm: My thoughts and prayers are with families of 3 martyred soldiers. Prayers for speedy recovery of injured jawans, says Defence Minister Arun Jaitley.

10:50 am: According to News18, an incident of stone pelting was reported a few kilometers away from the army camp in Kupwara where the terror attack took place today.

09: 25 am: An officer, a junior commissioned officer and a jawan have been killed in the attack.

 

08: 45 am: Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called for a high-level meeting to discuss the Kashmir situation following the attack. It is expected that top Home Ministry and IB officers will attend the meeting to discuss ways to improve law and order situation in Kashmir.

08: 00 am: Reportedly, two more terrorists are still holed up and attempts are being made to smoke them out.

08: 00 am:  The entire area has been cordoned off and search operations are underway.

07:55 am: Five jawans have suffered injuries and they have been taken to Srinagar.

07:50 am:  Three soldiers have lost their lives. An officer is among the three Army men who have been killed in the attack. The army officer killed was identified as Captain Ayush, official sources said.

07: 50 am:  Two terrorists have been killed.

05: 00 am: The incident took place at Panjgaon at Chowkibal when militants, suspected to be of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad stormed the battalion camp which is in-charge of road opening duties on the crucial roads in this area.
