After numerous Congress ministers failed to turn up at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's rallies in Karnataka, the party high command has decided to take strict action against them and has initiated disciplinary action that may amount to expulsion.

According to reports, AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh took note of the absent ministers and has informed the KPCC to issue show-cause notices to them.

The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had allegedly issued instructions to all the ministers of the Siddaramaiah government to be present when Rahul Gandhi toured the state. But numerous senior leaders decided to skip attending Rahul's rallies.

The errant ministers included Horticulture Minister Shyamnur Shivashankarappa, Housing Minister MH Ambarish, Textiles Minister Baburao Chinchansur and 12 others.

"It is a clear sign of disrespect towards the Congress vice-president. They (the ministers) were supposed to be present for all the events attended by Rahulji. Their absence amounts to serious violation of our code of conduct. We will take disciplinary action as well," a KPCC source was quoted in a report.
