Karnataka: Mirage 2000 trainer fighter aircraft of HAL crashes at HAL Airport in Bengaluru; both pilots killed

A Mirage 2000 trainer fighter aircraft crashed at the HAL Airport in Bengaluru. Both pilots had ejected, but one of them died as he had landed on the wreckage of the aircraft, and the other pilot succumbed to injuries in hospital. 2 other persons died in the crash

 


Both were test pilots- Squadron leader Negi and Squadron leader Abrol. It was a twin-seat variant and both the pilots ejected during their take-off run. The Mirage 2000 trainer aircraft was on a test sortie. The aircraft reportedly couldn't take off due to a technical snag, hit the boundry wall and caught fire.
