After section 144 was imposed in Sardhana and Kairana, Sangeet Singh Som, BJP MLA from Sardhana, district Meerut, called off his week-long Paidal Nirbhay Yartra on Friday, giving Uttar Pradesh government a "15 day notice to get all migrated families back".

Meanwhile, KC Tyagi, General Secretary, Jandta Dal (United), who opposes the entire concept of the Paidal Nirbhay Yartra, said, "Hukum Singh followed Amit Shah's instructions." He added that the entire episode was "nothing but a preparation of Muzaffarnagar or Godhara type tension before the elections".
Samajwadi Party leader, Shivpal Yadav, also opposing Sangeet Singh Som's ultimatum, told the media, "Whoever has left, has left for professional reasons, we will not let the BJP vitiate the atmosphere."
