Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on 10 August expressed grief at the death of 11 persons in a stampede in Deoghar.He has also issued directions for better treatment of the injured persons.

Since 10 August morning Home Secretary N N Pandey, Additional Director General of Police S N Pradhan and other officials have been supervising the rescue operation and treatment of more than 30 persons.
The Mishap
- The incident occurred around 4 AM while the devotees tried to overtake each other, said Deoghar district Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar.
- Thousands of devotees had visited Deoghar to offer prayers after fetching water from Bihar's Sultanpur, which is around 100 km from Deoghar. They had gathered in large numbers because of the second Monday of the auspicious month of Shrawan.
