Jammu and Kashmir: Soldier killed after a gunfight broke between security forces and terrorists in Kupwara district

An Indian Army soldier was killed in an encounter that broke between terrorists and security forces at Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district today. The encounter is going on.

The gunfight broke out between the army forces and terrorists when soldiers, based on intelligence inputs, went to Karalgund in the district to look for terrorists hiding in the area.


Troops of 92 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, 32 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is underway, reported NDTV.

Another encounter broke out between the security forces and terrorists at Hajin in Bandipora district. The gunfight broke between the security forces and terrorists, a day after India's Independence Day. Pakistan also celebrates its independence day on 14th August.

Earlier, this month, Terrorist along with eight grenade was arrested in Gandhi Nagar. Police foiled a major terror attack in the national capital, just before the country’s Independence Day. Reportedly, police have stopped a bus in Gandhi Nagar area at last night and arrested a youth from Kashmir, who was carrying 8 hand grenades along with him, said police officer.
