J&K: Encounter between security forces and militants underway in Handwara

An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in a forest area of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir late on 10 May.
Reportedly, one Army Jawan has been killed in the ongoing encounter.
However, an Army jawan is reportedly seriously injured and has been airlifted out of the site of encounter for immediate treatment.
Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in Watsar forests in Handwara area on 10 May following information about the presence of militants in the area. The gunbattle raged when reports last came in. More details awaited.
