After revenue minister and senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse found himself in the dock over the arrest of an alleged aide in a Rs 30-crore bribery case, fresh allegations have been levelled against him claiming that he was in touch with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
India Today has reportedly accessed a call list which has revealed the D-Company's alleged connections with the BJP minister.
According to the report, Dawood used to call the minister from his Karachi residence and from four different numbers. The numbers are registered under the name of Dawood's wife, Mehajbeen Sheikh.
After the report was aired on national television, the Maharashtra government has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Security agencies have reportedly begun investigating the case.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the alleged links. AAP leaders have demanded Khadse's resignation and have called that the matter be probed.
