A cab driver allegedly attempted to rape a female passenger in Hyderabad's Rajendra Nagar, police said on 30 August.

The incident occurred on 29 August when the victim, an air-hostess, lodged a police complaint alleging that the cab driver diverted the vehicle to an isolated place near Shamshabad and tried to rape her near 212 pillar of PVNR Expressway.

"When the survivor, seated in the front, tried to escape, he caught hold of her, pushed her down and molested her. But she managed to resist him. The driver then snatched her cell phone and hit her. He left her at an isolated spot and fled," the Times of India quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad Zone) Sunpreet Singh as saying.

"The woman has lodged a complaint saying the driver of the cab allegedly attempted to rape her while she was travelling in the vehicle," Singh told PTI.
