As Government of India boycotted the Pakistan National Day, being held at the Pak High Commission in New Delhi after the neighbour invited Separatist leader, PM Imran Khan tweeted saying he welcomes the greetings sent by PM Narendra Modi for the people.

PM Narendra Modi, in the greeting had written that, “I extend my greetings & best wishes to the people of Pakistan on the National Day of Pakistan. It is time that ppl of Sub-continent work together for a democratic, peaceful, progressive & prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence,” as tweeted by PM Imran Khan.

Although PM Modi’s message was directed upon terrorism, PM Imran Khan brought in the issue of Kashmir in his response. This happened a day after India’s Ministry of External Affairs, in a statement, boycotted the Pakistan National Day event here in Delhi.

PM Imran Khan, in his response tweeted, “I welcome PM Modi's message to our people. As we celebrate Pakistan Day I believe it is time to begin a comprehensive dialogue with India to address & resolve all issues, esp the central issue of Kashmir, & forge a new relationship based on peace & prosperity for all our people.”

India and Pakistan have been involved in a bitter relationship since last month after a face off between both the nuclear neighbours, as India had conducted “pre-emptive non-military” air strike across the LoC in Balakot at the terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammad, post deadly Pulwama attack which claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF soldiers. Pakistan had responded by attacking Indian military armaments with its F-16 fighter jets.
