A Delhi Court on 6 October will pronounce its order on whether to summon Erstwhile HRD Minister and current Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani on whether to summon Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani on a complaint filed against her for allegedly giving false information regarding her academic qualifications.

The Minister had previously provided information about her educational qualifications in affidavit to the Elecion Commission in order to contest different elections.

Freelance writer Ahmed Khan had filed a case in June 2015, against Irani accusing her of giving wrong information about her educational qualifications in affidavits.

Khan's lawyer had informed to the court that Irani, in her affidavit for 2004 Lok Sabha elections, stated her educational qualification as B.A. from Delhi University (school of correspondence).

However, while filing affidavit in her Rajya Sabha nomination papers from Gujarat in 2011, she said her highest educational qualification was B.com, Part 1 (correspondence course) from Delhi University.
