Delhi: Shocking! Cricket match turned to ugly fight and led to riots; 7 arrested

A shocking incident occurred at Delhi’s Trilokpuri where two groups fought with each other during a cricket match. Yes, two groups of people attacked with stones and Molotov cocktails on Thursday night after the argument during the cricket match which turned to ugly and also led to riots in the area.

The condition becomes so worsened that Police had to interfere in the matter and used tear gas shells to scatter the rioters from the spot. During the clash, four residents and four policemen were suffered from the injuries. Later, Police arrested seven people who were involved in instigating violence.



Reportedly, additional police forces have been deployed at the riots location.

As per the reports of HT, Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Pankaj Kumar Singh said that it is yet to be verified whether the clash was communal or not. He told that seven people have been arrested from both the communities who were involved in spreading the riots and also being questioned about their roles in the violence.

This is not the first time when such kind of group violence occurred in the area. Earlier, in February, the clash was raised when the rumours raised that a Dalit man was beaten to death. In 2016, a group of people also had an ugly fight in Trilokpuri after which the case of rioting had been registered. The area also witnessed the Hindu and Muslim riots in 2014 too, in which at least 13 policemen and 30 people injured.
