The lynching of Mohammed Ayyub allegedly by a group of cow vigilantes in Gujarat has been termed as 'Dadri part II' by Dalit youth leader Jignesh Mevani.
Mevani, who himself was detained by the Gujarat Police on 16 September night, asked his supporters to help the victim's family and those standing with them.
In a Facebook post, Mevani wrote, "Friends and well-wishers, I am technically released but still under house arrest kind of surveillance as a team a Ahmedabad crime branch is constantly with me. Just received the news that activist friends Shamsad Pathan and Asim sheikh are detained for raising voice against Dadri part-2, that is killing of Mohammed Ayyub by so called cow protectors. Just go out and support them."
He also asked his supporters to support Prabaht Singh of Bastar and Khurram Parvez of Kashmir. "My detention is negligible, they need tremendous support," wrote Mevani.
Ayyub was admitted to a hospital after he was beaten up by unidentified persons on SG Highway on the night of 13 September after his car met with an accident.
After Ayyub's car met with an accident, some bystanders checked the car, they found a calf and a bullock. Due to the impact, the calf died while the bullock was rescued. To save himself from people's wrath, he tried to run away, but was thrashed by the people.
Earlier an attempt to murder case was registered against the mob, but since he has passed away the police will file an FIR for murder. No one has been arrested yet and the investigations are on to nab the accused.
