An Indian who was detained by Chinese authorities for alleged link with a terror organisation has been released and deported back.
Why was he arrested?
46-year old Rajiv Mohal Kulshrestha was detained for watching a promotional videos of a banned terror group in their hotel rooms on 11 July. Along with Kulshrestha, 19 others including, several Britons and South Africans - all alleged members of South African, 'Gift of Charity' - were held at the Dongsheng detention centre in Inner Mongolia.
A resident of Delhi's Vasundhra Enclave, Kulshrestha says he has nothing to with the other members. He went to China around two weeks back on a tourist visa for a trip organised by a tour operator.
He was released after after officials of the Indian Embassy in Beijing formally sought consular access to meet Kulshrestha at Ordos and several rounds of meeting with Chinese agencies.
