Just days after news of the alleged assault on police horse, Shaktiman, by BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi in Dehradun, another case of shocking animal cruelty has surfaced.

After a man was caught on camera brutally stabbing three stray dogs and killing a puppy outside Green Park metro station in south Delhi, police have formed two teams to track him down, police said.

A PCR van received a call on 15 March about three dogs lying in a pool of blood near an exit of the metro station.

The team also found the carcass of a puppy at the spot. The animals were rushed to a veterinary hospital where the puppy was declared brought dead while three dogs were admitted with grievous injuries.

CCTV footage has revealed a man, dressed in a jacket and shorts, attacking the dogs in a frenzy for around 18 minutes. He can be seen picking up the puppy and flinging it down the stairs of the metro station and stabbing the dogs before leaving the area.

An FIR has been registered at Hauz Khas police station against the accused under IPC sections 428 and 429 as well as under provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Act.

The accused has not been identified yet, a senior official said. Residents have also come forward to report similar incidents in the area in the past. The police are currently examining CCTV footage to verify if the same man was involved in the previous cases.

Meanwhile, an NGO today announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who helps identify the accused, police added.
