How did business associates of Guj CM's daughter acquire govt land for Rs 15/sqm?

An Economic Times report has revealed that the company run by business partners of Anar Jayesh Patel, 45, daughter of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, acquired commercially lucrative land near the Gir Lion Sanctuary. Further, this land was acquired at the official rate of Rs 15 per square metre.

Here are some highlights from the Economic Times report:

1. There are two separate land deals involved. The Gujarat government gave 250 acres of land to Wildwoods Resorts and Realties at the official rate of Rs 15 per square metre in 2010-2011.

2. Another 400 acres of land near the Gir Lion sanctuary at in the state was also allotted to the same company.

3. The land is to be used for making resorts as it is a tourist area. However, till now no resort has been built on that land.

3. Wildwoods Resorts is owned by Dakshesh Shah and Amol Shripal Sheth.

4. They are Anar Patel's business partners.

5. Anar Patel is a social worker and entrepreneur.

6. When the land was given to Anar Patel's business partners, Anandiben Patel was the Revenue Minister and Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister.

7. These kinds of land deals are cleared by Revenue Ministers. Even after taking over as the Chief Minister of the state, Anandiben Patel continues to hold the Revenue portfolio.

8. Since the signing of the land deal, business transactions between Anar Patel and her associates have increased.
