As the election season has set in, the Congress and BJP are fighting the political battle at the forefront and Rahul Gandhi seems to be in trouble after BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi has filed a criminal contempt against him for making remarks against PM Narendra Modi.

Rahul Gandhi, who was reacting towards the Supreme Court’s ad-missal of the evidence published by The Hindu in the matter related to Rafale deal, has basically jumped the guns and said that ‘the Supreme Court has accepted that Chowkidar Chor Hai.’

Gandhi, while welcoming the apex court order said, “The entire country is saying that chowkidar has committed theft. It is a day of celebration that the Supreme Court has talked about justice. I am happy that what I have been saying for months that India’s Prime Minister stole money from the Air Force and gave it to Anil Ambani, Supreme Court has validated that point today.”

Meenakshi Lekhi’s case has been taken up by Mukul Rohatgi, former Attorney General, who in the Supreme Court submitted that Congress’ president remark of “Supreme Court has said, chowkidaar chor hai” is objectionable and demands contempt.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has agreed to hear the matter after BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi made a request before the bench.

Further, the BJP might have decided not to let go off Rahul Gandhi easily and hence, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also took upon the Gandhi scion and said, “Rahul Gandhi has completely showed his frustration by saying what the court had not said.”
