Bihar shelter home rape case: Girls reveal the horror night of torture, drugging, rape; say her private part used to be scratched

After the sexual abuse at Bihar’s Muzaffarpur shelter home was brought to light, sensational and disturbing revelations are emerging from the investigation into the incident.

Girls, who are mostly between the ages of 7-18, in their testimony to the court are revealing the horror night of torture, drugging and rape. Shockingly, many of the victims are suffering from speech-impairment.

They alleged that they were drugged, tortured and raped by the shelter home operator. According to the medical report, the rape with 34 girl have so far confirmed. Meanwhile, CBI takes over the case.

The testimony of 10-year-old inmate of Muzaffarpur’s Balika Grih to the special Pocso court was quoted by the Times of India as saying “sedatives were mixed in my food due to which I used to feel dizzy. I was asked by the aunties to sleep in Brajesh sir’s room and they used to talk about some visitor coming there. I used to find my pant thrown on the floor when I got up in the morning”.

Most of the children who are admitted to the shelter were sent by the police. The shelter home was run by NGO Seva Sankalp Evam Samiti. Brajesh Kumar Thakur, who is the head of the NGO, along ning members of the staff was taken into judicial custody.

Recounting how they used to be drugged by the warden of the shelter home, a victim said “Aunties used to give me kide ki dawai at night, following which we used to fall asleep. My entire body used to pain in the morning….At times we were kicked on our stomach”.

A victim who worked there as domestic worker in her testimony recounted that she was used to be hit if she refused to take medicine. Another victim testified that the NGO head Brajesh used to call her to the office and scratch her private parts “so badly that it used to lead to cut marks”.

One victim said that she and other started to cut themselves with shards of broken glass on their hands legs to protect themselves from being subjected to “gaanda kaam” (sexual abuse) while other survivors say that boiling water and oil had been thrown at them.
