On 3 June, Naxals put up a poster in the Imamganj area of Gaya, Bihar, claiming responsibility for the murder of Lok Janshakti Party leader Sudesh Paswan.

Paswan, a district-level leader of the LJP, was shot dead in the Dumaria police station area of Gaya district, police said. He was killed in Dubat Tola by assailants who waylaid him as he was travelling with his cousin Sunil Paswan and some supporters.

His wife, Maya Rani, is the 'mukhiya' of Kachar panchayat - where she is seeking re-election in ongoing panchayat polls. Sunil Paswan was also a candidate for membership of the Kachar panchayat.

The attackers also burnt a car, a mini truck and a motorbike in the deceased LJP leader's convoy.

A joint team of Bihar police and the CRPF has been conducting raids in the wake of killing of the LJP leader.
