Assembly Elections: Voting in Maharashtra, Haryana on October 21; counting of votes on October 24

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora  has announced  that Maharashtra and Haryana will witnessing state polls on 21st October, while results will be announced on 24th October. 

Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately after the announcement of the dates

CEC has also appealed to the parties to use environment-friendly campaign materials during elections.

 Total seats in Maharashtra are 288. Haryana assembly has got 90 seats.

Issue of notification: September 27

Last date of nomination: October 4

Date of poll: October 21

Counting: October 24

In Haryana 1.82 crore people are eligible to vote, while in Maharashtra 8.94 crore voters are eligible.  

In 2014 Assembly Elections, BJP won in both the states with clear majority. This year Haryana is planning to win almost 75 seats in assembly elections, whereas on teh other hand Maharashtra which is being ruled under combined power of two saffron parties BJP-Shiv Sena are yet to decide on seat-sharing.
