Andhra Pradesh Assembly Budget session begins

The budget session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly began today with the address of Governor Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan.

The Session will last until March 29.

Delivering an hour-long address with reference to the AP Reorganisation Act 2014, he added how the Government of India still has to fulfil several promises of Special Category Status (SCS).

"The state re-organisation has resulted in several difficulties and some of them stand unresolved to this day," he added.

He further said that as per the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 and the Govt. of India have to fulfil commitments of Special Category Status, bridging the resource gap, completion of Polavaram project with funds from the Centre.

Yesterday, the opposition YSR Congress said that it would boycott the Budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature.

The ruling TDP and the BJP, in the absence of the YSRC from the session, claimed that they would be "the government as well as the opposition".
