Allahabad High Court orders CBI probe in Bulandshahr gangrape case

Allahabad High Court on 12 August ordered a CBI probe in the Bulandshahr gang-rape case.

This comes days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded that the Bulandshahr rape case be handed over to the CBI.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had also announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for the two victims. He has also announced that the mother-daughter duo, gangraped by a group of dacoits on 30 July on the Delhi-Kanpur highway, will be given one flat each, reported ANI.

Akhilesh Yadav has been facing a lot of flak for the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, especially about crimes against women. The Opposition has demanded his resignation over the incident.

Last month, a 35-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were allegedly gang-raped by a gang of robbers in Bulandshahr district.

The victims were on their way from Noida to Shahjahanpur with other family members when their vehicle was stopped near a cycle repairing shop in Dostpur village on NH-9, which connects Noida and Bulandshahr.

According to one of the relatives of the victims, a group of six to eight men dragged the mother-daughter duo from the vehicle, took them to the nearby field and allegedly raped them.

The culprits also snatched money and jewellery from the possession of the victims and fled the scene of crime.
