Alert! 137 Air India flights to be delayed today for over 3 hours after global server shutdown

Day after five-hour worldwide server snag, around 137 Air India flights to be delayed today, said airline. On Saturday morning, Air India flights operation were affected as airline's SITA server is down all over India & overseas since 3:30 am. The flight's operation was later restored after six hours.

However, the server shutdown has affected the operation of flights on Sunday. The 137 flights would be delayed for over 3 hours, the airline’s spokesperson said. When asked about its effect on Sunday, he said, "Due to delay in the first sector, 137 flights are delayed by 197 minutes (average)."


According to PTI reports, thousands of passengers were stranded on Saturday morning at airports across the world after Air India's passenger service system (PSS) software, which looks after check-in, baggage and reservation did not function from 3.30 am to 8.45 am due to a technical glitch.

According to PTI reports, the airline sources said that the software, which is of Atlanta-based SITA company, was not functioning approximately from 3 am to 9 am Saturday.

The average number of flights that Air India group, which also includes subsidiaries Alliance Air and Air India Express, flies daily is 674.
