An Air India flight AI144 traveling from Newark to Mumbai was diverted to Istanbul on 1 August.
However, according to Planefinder, the plane had gone past Istanbul and was traveling to an unknown destination. As of, 4:41 pm, the plane seems to back on course. According to unconfirmed reports, the reason for the diversion seems to be technical snag. The aircraft, which took off at 4:44pm EDT, was scheduled to land in Mumbai at 4:06 pm IST.
Planefinder showed that the altitude of the flight was much lower than usual - at around 14,000 ft. The dip was momentary as the altitude has now climbed back up to 35,000 ft.
Air India's AI144 is a daily flight which travels from Newark to Mumbai before it heads on to Ahmedabad.
