The Allahabad High Court on 29 August granted three weeks of parole to Nupur Talwar to visit her unwell mother.

Talwar, who is an accused in the 2008 Noida double murder case, was convicted along with her husband Rajesh Talwar for the gruesome killings of their daughter Aarushi Talwar and their domestic help Hemraj by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in 2013.

The two were killed on the night of 15-16 May 2008 at the Talwar's home.

When Aarushi's body was discovered on 16 May, the missing servant Hemraj was considered as the main suspect. However, the next day, his partially decomposed body was discovered on the terrace.

In November 2013, the parents were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Many critics argued that the judgment was based on weak evidence, and the Talwars have challenged the decision in the Allahabad High Court.
