In yet another incident of crime against women, a minor girl was allegedly forced to drink acid in southeast Delhi's Kalkaji area, the police said on 8 September.

According to the police, the incident occurred on 7 September, when the Class X student was on her way back home from school. She was ambushed by two boys who forcefully made her drink acid, reported the Indian Express.

Reportedly, the two boys were also in school uniform. They attacked the teenager around 200 metres from her school.

A case has been registered at Kalkaji police station against the accused under sections related to acid attack. The police has not been able to record the girl's statement yet. Therefore, no information can be confirmed at this point. The CCTV footage of the area has been acquired by the police and an investigation is underway.

The victim was rushed to Safdarjung hospital and her condition is believed to be critical.

"The school staff did not bother to call me immediately. They called me after half-an-hour. When I went there, I found my daughter was vomiting. They told me it might due to an upset stomach or acid problems. I took her home, where she narrated the whole incident," the Indian Express quoted the girl's mother as saying.
