Actor Saiyami Kher, who will soon be seen in filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's film Mirzya, made her ramp debut for ace designer Gaurav Gupta's collection titled 'Scape Song' on the penultimate day of the FDCI India Couture Week 2016 on Saturday.

With her curly hair brushed to one side, Saiyami had donned a pastel blue and silver ensemble with ruffles accompanied with glittery eye make-up.

Although the heel of one of her platform sandals gave away on the ramp, the actress resumed walking with confidence and held herself with elan.

Talking about her experience as a debutante on the ramp Saiyami told media here: "This is very special to me as this was my first time on the ramp although I have modelled before but they were mostly stills. It was lovely and I cannot wait to be back on the ramp."

Exploring unusual silhouettes mixed with a lot of drapes and intelligent construction, the multi-layered high waist skirts, classic silhouettes with a modern twist, made the collection a standout.

The collection showcased by Gupta was an amalgamation of different layers, ruffles and vintage colours like grey, English blue, greens, browns, pastel hues of blue, white and powder pink.

"The collection gives out a global message that India is very much a part of the globe and is the leading global country. It's a statement collection of contemporary, almost futuristic new Indian wear. All of us are well travelled global citizens, but at the same time we enjoy the Indian-ness," Gupta told a news agency.

Gupta had also given the models elongated eyelash look inspired by birds as the whole theme of the collection was like an ode to nature.

Ace designers Manav Gangwani and Rohit Bal will be showcasing their latest collection on the last day of the five day event on Sunday.
