Cannes 2016: Check out Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's gold red carpet outfit. Will she wear a sari to Sarabjit premiere?

Cannes regular Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her first red carpet appearance at this year's edition of the prestigious international film festival. And as expected, her 15th appearance at the festival sent paparazzi and Bollywood fans into a tizzy.

Aishwarya, who was at the event as the ambassador of a leading cosmetics brand, wore a sequined Ali Younes Couture outfit. While she usually manages to impress in most of her sartorial choices, this embellished gown and matching cape look is a little too much to take.

While she looks good, as always, the outfit falls flat on its face. Blame it on the unflattering photographs or on the ill-fitting gown, but the sheer gown seems to do nothing to compliment her frame.

She paired her look with heavy blue eye makeup. A closer look reveals some thick blue kohl on the lower eyelid - a dramatic look that also comes across as being unnecessary.

Here are the pictures of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the Cannes 2016 red carpet:

What do you think of this look? Do you think Aishwarya should opt for Indian instead?

Considering how well she carries off Sabyasachi sarees and her love for Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creations, Ms Bachchan would definitely do well to take her pick of the gorgeous Indian wear at hand for the Sarbjit premiere at Cannes later today.
