A 108-year-old woman from Rajasthan has undergone a major brain surgery at a private hospital in Jaipur.

Ramoli Devi, who hails from Karauli, was admitted to the hospital on 4 October, when she suffered from brain haemorrhage.

A team of doctors conducted the surgery, which was carried out without anaesthesia. Two clots were removed from her brain during the surgery.

Following the successful operation, the hospital administration now plans to contact the Guinness Book of World Records to claim the title of having performed brain surgery on the world's oldest patient.

The hospital administration claim that the online verification has revealed that so far, the oldest patient documented to undergo a surgery was a 104-year-old lady who had undergone a hip replacement at a hospital in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the oldest person to have gone for partial hip replacement was 103 years old only.
