UP: 22-year-old hangs herself after killing infant son for a shocking reason
A 22-year-old woman allegedly murdered her infant son who was just 14-month-old and then hanged herself at her home after being harassed over dowry, said police on Monday.
The incident happened under the jurisdiction of Dataganj Kotwali police station on Sunday, Superintendent of Police (SP), City, Praveen Singh Chauhan said.
As stated in a complaint registered by the father of the victim, identified only as Fatima, her in-laws had been harassing her for dowry and on Sunday, they also beat her up, said SP.
An FIR has been registered and the husband of the victim has also been taken into custody, Chauhan said.
Further investigations are underway, the SP added.
